One of the largest course-racing events in North America, the Verve Cup Offshore has developed into a world-class regatta attracting many national and international competitors. This regatta features two days of buoy racing and a distance race.
Annually, this event hosts over 100 yachts ranging in size from 30 - 70 feet and carries crews from 4 - 20 racers. Chicago Yacht Club looks forward to welcoming more than 1,000 racers, family members, and friends to its award-winning lakefront Monroe Station Clubhouse.
To encourage participation by boats that may not have an ORC rating, a PHRF section and a PHRF JAM section are offered. If a boat does not have a PHRF rating, the regatta manager can assign one.
Brag flags and prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each section. The winner in what is determined by formula to be the most competitive section, “The Elite Fleet,” will be awarded the perpetual Verve Cup Trophy. The Verve Cup trophy dates back to 1893 and is the Chicago Yacht Club’s oldest trophy. For the Distance Race, brag flags and prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each of the handicap sections, and the first-place winner in the fleet will be awarded the 8 Mile Buoy Trophy. There are also awards for Mixed Plus teams!
Members and non-members, crews, families, and friends may utilize food and beverage amenities of the Chicago Yacht Club for breakfast, lunch, and dinner during this three-day regatta, including bar service, BBQ offerings, al fresco dining, and inside dining with a relaxed dress code.
